Where the magic began!
Animal Magic was opened in 1992 by Kerry Youngman who has worked very hard with her caring and dedicated staff to build up a professional grooming parlour with a good reputation.
For many years it had been Kerry's dream to open a hydrotherapy centre for dogs after seeing many dogs suffering with arthritis, injuries, and weight problems. After briefly owning Monty an English Mastiff who was morbidly obese and died at the young age of 5, she decided something needed to be done to help other dogs.
Kerry completed courses at the Hawksmoor Hydrotherapy Centre of Excellence in; Introduction to Hydrotherapy, Anatomy and Physiology for Hydrotherapy and Introduction to First Aid and Animal Care. Her colleague, Emily attended courses in Water Management and Hydrotherapy. Kerry then opened Animal Magic's hydrotherapy fitness centre so that they could help as many dogs as possible in and around Colchester.
Animal Magic are fully insured and members of the British Dog Grooming Association and the Guild of Master Craftsmen. Kerry and her team are all very passionate about what they do and work very closely with veterinarians and specialists on a veterinary referral basis.
Level 3 qualified hydrotherapists
Kerry has been a successful business woman for over 18 years and continues to thrive in all that she can. From a companion and reptile pet shop in 1992, over the years Kerry has transformed Animal Magic into a triumphant grooming parlour, hydrotherapy and fitness centre (opened 2009) and training school (2010). Kerry has seen and dealt with thousands of cats and dogs (as well as the odd bird and several rabbits!) throughout her career; she is passionate about all animals with a particular interest in health and welfare. Kerry has successfully completed qualifications in hydrotherapy, clinical conditions, first aid, and anatomy and physiology as well as micro-chipping.On top of this, she has outstanding knowledge, personal experience, and a large client base throughout and around Essex. Kerrys first ever pet was called Rex, a German Shepherd. Today, she is the proud owner of 2 dogs, Grancha Sam the English Mastiff, Molly the Lhasa Apso; 2 horses, Tolly an Irish sports horse and Access, a thoroughbred; an African Grey named Rolo, a Cockatoo called Charlie, 2 tortoises, an ever increasing number of chickens, 3 call ducks and 1 goldfish. (Note to the reader- Keep an eye on this list, it is guaranteed to expand in numbers!) One of Kerrys many ambitions is to share her wisdom. She has made this possible by starting up a training school for students of all ages to learn the tricks of the trade.
